Getting your Drivers Licence

Can you remember when you were sweet sixteen?  and you couldn’t wait to pass your drivers license?  We were all in the same boat; it gave us all the sense of exciting anticipation. We all wanted that little card so badly we could hardly stand it.

Particularly if you are a male, you would have been dying to acquire that legal piece of plastic that said you could finally drive on your own. Yes indeed, the classic drivers license is the epitome of freedom when you're young. So many of us actually believe that we can venture out to any place, near or far, once we've earned the almighty drivers license. Ha, what a joke that turns out to be. Not to sell the access card short, but it only goes so far. Regardless, it's great to finally get your drivers license and have the ability to go some places without the folks.

When did you get your drivers license? I had to get mine right when I turned 16. Where I come from, we could get our learners permits when we turned 14, therefore I had already driven quite a bit. It was then that I realized my license was attainable. What I find funny now these days is the change in mentality. I look at our 17 year old daughter and wince with confusion. She didn't even care about getting her drivers license right when she turned 16. What's up with that? Have things changed so much in the last couple decades? She basically told us that she would go get it eventually, and she wasn't in any hurry. Although we were clearly puzzled, we decided not to push it. Six months later she tested and received her first driver’s license.

What always amazes me is how you have to change your drivers’ license every time you move; don’t we wish we could keep the same one? Those of us who move addresses quite regularly, have to obtain a new license, what a pain, but what can you do as we all need a current drivers license to do our daily routines.

If you are not yet 16 and have not yet received your first driver’s license, you can always get a head start by hopping online, at your fingertips is all the information allowing you to prepare for that much-anticipated license before you even reach the age of 16. Get a head start, good luck and happy driving.
